    Primary auxiliary verbs


    Primary auxiliary verbs are derived from the verbs BE, HAVE, and DO.

    Primary auxiliary verbs which are derived from the verb BE are am, is, are, were and was.
    I am a teacher.
    I was a teacher.
    He is my friend.
    He was my friend.
    They are students.
    They were students.
    She is an intelligent girl.
    He was very polite.
    You are a clever boy.
    They are quarrelsome.



    Primary auxiliary verbs which are derived from the verb

    HAVE are have, had and has.
    They have five houses.
    He has two children.
    She had ten cars.


    Primary auxiliary verbs which are derived from the verb DO are do, does and did.
    I do drive the car.

    He did the assignment perfectly
    He does the examination very well
    Modal Auxiliary VerbsModal Auxiliary Verbs are used to make sentences with tenses, moods, voices, interrogatives, negatives and emphatic form of speeches.

    Will, would, can, could, shall, should, may, might and must are Modal Auxiliary Verbs.

    Can :
    I can lift this box. Can I leave now?
    Can I make use your cell phone?


    Could :
    < He could drive the car once.
    Could I take this book?He could have taken the matter easily.


    May :
    < May I come in?
    It may rain now.I may come to Chennai.


    Might :
    < Might I use your pen?
    It might rain now.

    Shall :
    < I shall come tomorrow.

    Should :

    It should be done now.

    Will :

    Would :

    I would take long walks in my youth.
    He would be expected by 10 pm.

    Must :
